Book Tour for Wicked Bond by Sawyer Bennett (REVIEW)

Throughout four previous books Bridger Payne has become an obsession for me with his quiet confidence and commanding demeanor.  With this fifth release in the Wicked Horse series Bridger takes center stage in a tale of heartbreak and suspense all wrapped up in a decadently delightful bow.  Keep reading to get a tempting taste of Wicked Bond by Sawyer Bennett, along with my impressions of it, then add it to your bookshelf!

Bridger Payne is an enigma that no one can figure out. Wise beyond his years, eerily intuitive and sexy as hell, every woman in The Silo wants him.
None can have him.
Not the real man, anyway.
He might wield the lash for you if you ask prettily, but he'll get no gratification from it. He'll definitely make you scream, but he won't think twice about you when he walks away. Bridger carries the darkest of secrets. He's filled with too much pain.
He’s utterly untouchable.
Until she came along.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

Throughout the previous four installments in the Wicked Horse series Bridger Payne has been an enigma, a man who always helped his friends when they needed him. He never asked for anything in return, but you still sensed that he was a calculating man who knew everyone's secrets and would use them if needed.  In Wicked Bond it's now Bridger who needs the help when a mysterious and bruised woman is left in his care who reawakens his own broken and bruised psyche.  Many characters from the past return to make this an exciting thrill ride for an unconventional group of people who are more like a family.  Readers will find themselves quickly consumed by this heartbreaking tale full of intense emotions, and teeming with erotic encounters, and feel immensely satisfied but saddened that such a highly anticipated story has ended.

Bridger's known as the quietly commanding Master of BDSM who enjoys putting on an erotic show but is never inclined to open his heart to any woman.  He enjoys sex of all kinds, the release and momentary peace from the demons of his childhood, but lately it's starting to feel as if it's not enough.  When the broken Maggie is dropped on his doorstep though she calls forth all his protective instincts and soon their lives are joined together in a battle to keep her safe from from a deadly MC as well as a battle over his heart.  I always sensed that Bridger's past was a heartbreaking one but once his childhood is revealed here readers will find themselves in need of tissues.  His is a childhood of ultimate betrayal, where sex and pain became blurred, and where you're never able to feel clean again.  It's left him feeling unworthy of love and doubtful of HEA which puts big roadblocks into his burgeoning relationship with Maggie.  It's clear he's a man who deserves happiness after everything he's been through, and for all the sweet and subtle things he does for Maggie and her daughter Belle, if only he's willing to finally put his past behind him. Through everything I found Bridger endearing in all his broken beauty and thrilled by the easygoing smiles frequently flashed by the story's conclusion which put a smile on my face.  His story was a powerful one and well worth the wait!

Maggie came from an affluent family but rebelled by becoming a wild child who enjoyed partying and boys and had no job or plans for her future.  She unfortunately chose the wrong man to be with when she chose Zeke, the head of an MC.  She soon found herself caught up in a dangerous world where she was nothing more than a sexual commodity, bruised and almost killed out of jealousy.  The only bright spot during her years with the Club is her daughter Belle who she'd do anything to protect.  Being left with Bridger though brings her new fears...fears over his promise to keep her safe and fears over their crackling connection and the erotic promise she sees in his eyes.  Maggie's a kind hearted woman who has very low self-esteem.  She thinks that her body is the only thing she can offer someone, but Bridger helps her redefine herself. She's felt guilt over the danger she put her child in, but he too takes away her guilt by revelations of his own regarding bad parenting which has her wanting to heal him.  Maggie's very understanding when it comes to Bridger's issues, giving to him in every way he needs her at first but finally showing some backbone when he runs from the possibility of HEA he sees in her eyes.  Ultimately, she's a likable heroine and together they're a formidable match.

This was an intensely emotional story that broke my heart.  Bridger's past is an unspeakable one, full of perversions and betrayals, which makes his struggles believable and understandable.  He's wound very tightly early on and I enjoyed those carefree moments he had with Maggie and Belle that gave me hope for his healing.  I don't normally care for children in romances but Belle's a cute kid who brought out a soft side to Bridger that was endearing.  Readers who enjoy erotically-charged romances will get a lot of bang for their buck as sex is a very big facet to Bridger's life.  Numerous scorching encounters take place along with an exhilarating bit of suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat and turning the pages furiously.  All in all this was a story well worth the wait for it's one-of-a-kind hero and compelling tale of overcoming your past and is one I'd love to read again.

My rating for this is an A.
