There are worse things than being stranded in a blizzard.
Artist Trevor Morrison has always appreciated the little things in life, treating each day as a gift. And with good reason: he’s been on the transplant-recipient list for too long now. When he learns just how numbered his days truly are, he resolves not to take them for granted. But he won’t be unrealistic, either—which means romantic commitments are off the table.
Marcus Roberts seems to have it all. He’s handsome, financially sound, and on the fast track to partnership at a prestigious law firm. In reality, though, his drive for success has meant no time for friends or relationships. Add in the fact that his family discarded him long ago, and he’s facing yet another holiday season alone.
When the biggest snowstorm to hit Colorado in decades leaves Marc and Trevor stranded at the same hotel, a chance encounter and a night of passion leads to more than either of them expected. Finding comfort in each other is a welcome surprise, but time is not on their side. Either they find a way to beat the odds, or they lose each other forever.

MY IMPRESSIONS OF THIS BOOK:

With the holidays fast approaching Ms. Chase has given readers a gift to cherish for its admirable main couple, sweet and sensual interactions, and heartwarming tone despite the serious theme of organ donation.  Readers are taken on a roller coaster ride of emotions as an unexpected encounter brings two men together to open their eyes to possibilities they've denied themselves for too long.

Trevor's known for a long time that his kidneys are giving out and he's tried to live life to the fullest because of it.  With his doctor's latest pronouncement though things are getting more dire.  Decisions must be made as a donor isn't on the horizon, but wanting to spend the holidays with as much joy as possible has him putting off his final decision.  Mother Nature has other plans for him when he becomes stranded far from home and in the company of a man who's letting life pass him by too.  Meeting Marcus changes his life irrevocably as he's able to forget about his illness for a few days while in his arms.  When it comes to long-term though, it will take a miracle and the power of love to give them a HEA.  Trevor's an immensely likable character with a positive outlook despite what he's going through.  He's so scared of hurting others, and leaving them behind, that he's unwilling to grab as much happiness as he can which frustrated me but was understandable.  He's a kind soul that sees what's missing in Marcus' life and helps him find himself again after years of being lost trying to make other's proud.  If Trevor can't give him his love long-term he'll at least give him the freedom to embrace what truly makes him happy.

Ever since his mother found out about his sexuality as a teen, Marcus has been alone. Desperate to make her proud, and acknowledge him again, he's devoted himself to work and gaining success at the expense of his life.  An unexpected encounter shows him just what he's been missing, in life and in love, and it leads to an eye-opening holiday that finally sets him free and opens his heart.  Just when he's given a glimpse of happiness though fate might pull it away unless his new-found friends can give him the best gift ever.  Marcus is clearly in pain when we first see him, lonely and trying to ignore who he is.  Though he hasn't talked to his mother in years her shadow still looms large keeping him lost and alone by denying what he truly wants.  He's stressed and uptight at first but being with Trevor brings out a carefree and playful side that brought a smile to my face.

Their time together was sweet and sexy with their interlude a kind of honeymoon where they could keep the real world at bay.  Trevor's an admirable character through it all with believable thoughts and feelings regarding his health.  Ms. Chase touches on his health needs but doesn't dwell on them which keeps the story flowing in a positive direction with hope permeating the story despite his dire outlook.  I thoroughly enjoyed the interactions between Trevor and Marcus as they were fun, flirty, sweet, and sensual around each other with sexual encounters that were steamy while showing their deepening connection.  The conclusion, while a bit too pat and too quickly resolved, was still an uplifting one perfect for the book's holiday theme. Overall it was a heartwarming story that put a smile on my face while wrapping me in its warm blanket of charm and I recommend it to those looking for a feel-good read.

My rating for this is an B+

My favorite holiday tradition is decorating the Christmas tree. We make a family party out of it with music, food and laughter. And I love unwrapping our eclectic collection of ornaments.
